Paparazzi Angel

This is what I made for my Christmas tree topper. I thought, "Wouldn't it be neat to have Lady Gaga for my angel?" and then it clicked.

Barbie Doll
Electrical Tape
Chiffon ribbon
Gold ribbon
Cardboard (cereal boxes)
Button
Ornament hooks
Gold Wire
Almond Roca wrapper
Lace
Feathers
Glitter Glue Spray

I used a regular Barbie doll, stripped her of her doll clothes, and proceeded to do up her hair with the ornament hooks like one would use curlers to curl their hair. After getting her hair up, I sprayed it with the Glitter glue spray for hold, then left the hooks in until I was completely done with everything else. The next thing to do was the base of the dress so my angel has a way to stay on the tree. This is where the cardboard comes in.
I cut out a good shape for the dress and wrapped it around the doll's waist and kept it still with the electrical tape. I used more of the tape for the latex looking areas of the doll's upper body.
After the tape, I moved on to the wire wings and this is where I spent the most time. I based the wings from a butterfly and went from there. After the wings were shaped I attached them together and used some extra wire as a backpack sort of thing to keep the wings on.
Next, I did the feathers around the chest and neck areas before moving on to the golden ribbon. I sewed some wire to it so I could make the shape of what I wanted. I attached the button to the end of the golden wire ribbon, closed the end and positioned it.
I then used the Almond Roca wrapper to create the mask, and glued it to the doll's face. While letting the glue dry I let down the hair and cut the excess hair away, and sprayed it again with the glitter glue spray to hold it in place.
Last, I used more cardboard for the hat. I made the shape I wanted and used the electrical tape to keep it together as well as cover the the hat for a base color of black before using the lace.

And bam! a Lady Gaga Christmas angel for my tree was made. n_n
